I don’t know if this happens to you, but it certainly has happened to me. It can be very frustrating if you don’t know how to fix the problem.
There may be time when you go clothes shopping with a particular look or style in mind. You finally find that one garment that makes your heart sing.
You take it to the fitting room to try it on. Everything looks great in the mirror…everything, that is, until you look down. While the top half of the outfit looks like it was tailor-made for you, the pants or the skirt hem are way too long.
Most department stores don’t offer alterations anymore. So you might think that you’ll have to pass on that one.
Before you put the outfit back on the rack, think about another option. You can adjust the pants or skirt by hemming them.
If you bring them to me, we can set the hem exactly where you want it. Then I can adjust the outfit so that it’s a perfect fit for you. And I can even adjust the waist band or other areas if you need it.
I have one client, a very nice older lady, who keeps me in mind whenever she’s clothes shopping. She’s told me several times that she no longer worries about the fit. She figures that if it needs adjusting, she’s got a good friend in the sewing business.
She really likes to shop the sales rack items. These are often clothes that are left because they don’t fit anyone correctly. Armed with a huge bag and my business card, she hunts until she finds the colors and styles that suit her.
